A freeride competition in Hunnedalen, outside Stavanger. In addition to the skiing and snowboarding, it consists of many other events, such as surfing, diving and mountainbiking. It’s a part of the FWQ Norwegian Freeride Series.

In 2013 the competition was organized with a budget of  NOK 230 000. Our desired budget is NOK 400 000. We fully rely on good sponsors and partners, to realize this together. Our main sponsor for 2013 and 2014 was

Stavanger Freeride crew consists of 12 happy volunteers. During the season they meet every week to make this event as good as possible.

Located 80 km from the city of Stavanger. The valley does not have a ski resort, but further up in Sirdal up you’ll find five small resorts. The nearest, Tjørhomfjellet, is a 15 minute drive from Hunnedalen.

Stop 2 out of 5 in the new Norwegian Freeride Series by Freeride World Qualifier. A complete success from the beginning to the end. Great surfing conditions at Solastranden. Incredibly fun time diving in Dysjalandshallen, and a breathtaking day at Kvitafjell in Hunnedalen. Blue skies, 300 spectators and a lot of (hard packed) snow. 56 skiers and snowboarders went down the steep mountain face. Neolab by Knowit was the main sponsor, and made us a new logo and graphic profile.

Head of competition: Elisabeth Balchen Gundersen.

Norway. Stavanger. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was up for the adventure. I will say it has delivered superbly. Breath taking country, fantastic people and awesome time. And new friends! I will be back!!

Still part of the Norway Freeride Cup, but now also a 2* Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ). Due to bad weather forecast, the competition was held on Friday 21 March. Fewer spectators, but still the competitors, media and crew were happy. Good slushy snow and great performances. We used the mountain Hallbrekkvæven this year as well. In addition to the competition, the festival had surfing and mountainbiking. Arc’teryx was once again the main sponsor.

Head of competition: Anders Ekkje Slettebø.

We’re happy with our two years with Stavanger Freeride, and we’re proud to be associated with the Norwegian freeride scene. The event was great, and I wish them all the best in the coming years.

Our first year, and with great success. A part of the Norway Freeride Cup together with Sogndal, Sauda and Røldal. The spectators, the competitors and the media loved it. Everything was perfect, except the unforgivable concrete hard snow conditions during the race. The mountain face was Hallbrekkvæven. We had guided hiking, indoor climbing in, surf at Bore, movie night, avalanche speech with Markus Landrø, and a great concert and party for the closing. The high quality Canadian clothing company, Arc’teryx, was the main sponsor.
